The contest is now closed to entries.
Ladies there are so many great first lines. I’m really happy everyone is as excited about this contest as I.
If my judge can get to it this week I’ll post the 45 that go on to round two before Monday.
Write on,
K

Karin, some really great entries. Thanks for doing this.
Karin, this was a great idea! Thanks for putting it together. :sunggle:
It’s my pleasure. My goal is for one of the finalist to sell to Lauren.
Such a wonderful idea! Thanks Karin for giving us the opportunity.
Ditto on the thanks, Karin! This was so much fun and very entertaining! Can’t wait to see how the list whittles down. :jumping:
Definitely a great idea! Thanks!
I’m very nervous right now, it occured to me after I gave the judge his/her instructions that there will be some hurt feelings when I post the 45 that go on to the second round. I want to aplogize in advance. This is why I refused to judge. And now, I feel like asking Lauren if she’ll read 50 first ten pages!
Karin,
Yes, thanks for such a great idea! And Edie, too, for letting me know. Great entries, I’m thinking.
LaDonna
Karin,
Please don’t worry. This has been great fun. I loved reading those first lines. Some of them are so clever I wished I’d thought of them. lol. As on of the contestants, if I don’t move on I’ll shrug it off and survive with no hurt feelings.
The whole writing business is so subjective. What your first round judge culls, someone else will love. Its the nature of the beast.
Theresa
Ditto on the thanks, Karin… and don’t stress out. There are so many great entries it’s bound to be hard on the judges…but we’ll still love ya ’round here.
Karin, Thanks for the opportunity. Whatever the results, it’s been fun.
Don’t worry about hurt feelings Karin. As President of a RWA group, I wonder everytime I have to do any business who I upset, hurt, anger. You want to please everyone, but its impossible. This was a great idea for a contest, and the oppertunity was a gift.
Lee
Karin,
The contest was a wonderful idea. Don’t stress about hurt feelings.
You, ladies are so sweet. I feel a teeny bit better.
:starwars: If my entry doesn’t go on, I shall simply carry on and fight another day. 🙂
Seriously, if you want to be a writer you have to be able to take rejection. I love the idea of this contest!

Karin, no worries about any hurt feelings, truly. This is a wonderful opportunity you’re giving us, and it sure sounds like everyone here is simply grateful. Relax, and thanks.
Laura
I agree with everything said here. It’s just something fun to do – no stress, no worries!
Karin:
We’re all cool with whatever happens!
Thanks for the chance.

Oh, man, I totally missed it. I was going by the info on the website, that said stay tuned…
I guess I didn’t stay tuned enough! Dang!
The sad this is, I wrote the ten pages. Oh well. Next time, check the blog. Check the blog. Check the blog.
Signed,
A chastened Jake
Jake! I annouced it over at MSW!
Karin,
I am just thrilled to have a chance at it. What a fabulous idea and how exciting. Even if I get knocked out in the first round – I will be glued. There are so many fantastic first lines that have whet my appetite to read more. I can’t wait.
Tracey eagerly staying tuned…
I don’t know how I missed it. I go over there every day. I was going by your website…
ah, sigh. Well, just for fun, I thought I’d throw this one out there because I wouldn’t have been able to write anything to back it up anyway:
“Paul watched in stunned disbelief as his bride of twenty minutes stepped over his best man’s already-cooling body and said, “One down, two to go.”
That wasn’t my entry, because I couldn’t think of any way to resolve it!
Jake
WHo’ll be quicker on the uptake next time. Good luck to all the entrants!
Love the line,Jake. Tracey, I’m working on putting the 45 for round two together.
Thanks, Karin. I’m looking forward to seeing what happens with this contest. It’s an exciting one!
