Happy Friday

I’ll be MIA for the weekend. My most awesome agent is as you read this on her way out here to Nor Cal territory. She’s our guest at SFARWA Saturday morning. Then off to San Francisco for the rest of the weekend. As much as I’m looking forward to spending time with my agent, I am looking forward just as much to spending time in the city with hubby. We really need to do it more often. It’s hard though when you have kids who love to party, especially when mom and dad are away. So we find ourselves either staying home, taking them and a friend with us (which is tough coz the boys want to bring girls and that means extra rooms…) or dropping to our knees and praying they don’t destroy the house while we’re gone. None of those scenarios are fun. But we have everything crossed six ways to sundown this weekend. I can not wait!

My girl Josie Brown turned me on to Priceline.com. I booked a 5 star hotel for $120 bucks a night! In San Francisco! In Union Square! For the weekend! I. CAN. NOT. WAIT!! Even though it’s supposed to rain Saturday I could care less. Room service, a world renowned bar downstairs, room service, fabulous dinning, room service, spectacular rooftop views…room service…

It’s pretty sad when room service gets a girl more excited then shopping in Union Square.

So, what floats your boat for a weekend getaway?

Oh, ps, my friend Rocki St. Claire is guest blogging here at The Write Life next week. She is a busy lady and I’m happy she is squeezing us in. If you haven’t gone out and bought her latest book TAKE ME TONIGHT you are missing out. I started it the other night and am itching to get back to it. Her hero Johnny is one serious hot flash.

My husband and I have 5 kids also. Our oldest is 12 and our youngest is 1. We have a daughter with Cerebral Palsy and Seizures and a son with Autism. We don’t get to go away, but if I could I would love to go to California. I’ve never been there. Have a great weekend. I’m looking forward to your next book.

Karin, have a great time with hubby. And I must check out that online site for great deals! My hubby and I don’t get away very often either. He works weekends, bummer. But, any place I can just relax, and rejuv is heaven. I love lakeside, and small quaint places off the radar.

Had to smile at the, leaving a teenager behind. Been there, done that. Sometimes the house was still standing, others it was hit and miss. Phew, glad those days are but a nightmare, ah memory. lol.

Holly, please tell me you have help and hubby is a prince. California is great. Both ends. If and when the time is right, with or without the kids c’mon over. We have it all and do it all. Although, I left my heart in Manhattan.

Lee, didn’t we just have this conversation not too long ago? About kids and house parties? Sigh. My kids are slick.Or think they are. The last time we took off for the weekend, and left number one son home, he had a lookout posted for his grandparents. And sure enough when they checked in, he greeted them with a beer in his hand and two friends casually lounging about in the family room. No big deal. yes he’s having a beer (he was 19 at the time) and a couple of buddies stopped by for a few minutes. To my son, fil was hoodwinked. Not ten feet from where he stood in the downstairs powder room ten kids were squeezed in with their choice of alcohol and holding heir breath.
Number one son got his due though. FIL left, and two minutes later walked back into the house and caught the gaggle of girls and guys laughing hysterically about how slick they were.
    Busted.

LaDonna, when you go to the site and find thehotels you are looking for you have the option to take it at the price offered or bid on it. I began the bidding at 90 bucks.

My next venture will be a 5 star resort in Carmel. Since we want to go for more than a weekend it will mean we have to take the kid and his GF, so that means an extra room. 3 in one and her in her own room. Hmm that doesn’t sound very fair does it?

Oh, and here is the catch. You get the better prices the closer to the date you want to go.

When Josie and I hit LA last November she shopped the day before we left and got us a fabulous deal at the Century City Hyatt.
She was kicking herself for not trying the Beverly Hills Hotel. So I kicked her.
