This time it’s for me. Specifically, a title. For my medieval historical due to release next summer.
Here’s what my editor and I are looking for: a title that is good, strong and sexy. It does not have to covey the genre, the cover will do that.
Here is a blurb:
Norman knight, Reegan du Luc, storms the courtyard and batters down the doors to Isabel of Aelthorp’s manor home. Will he storm his way into her heart as well?
November 1066, North Warwickshire, England.
Isabel, heiress of Aelthorp, wants peace and tranquility for her people, but William, bastard Duke of Normandy has overthrown Harold the Usurper. Her father and brother are killed at Hastings, and she’s left alone to protect Aelthorp.
Known as la lame noir, the Black Sword, legendary killer at Hastings, and bastard half cousin to William, Reegan du Luc, wants one thing. Legitimacy. The only way he can procure that is by securing land and a wife to bear him sons. He is willing to use any means necessary to achieve his goal. But the woman he chooses, Isabel, is betrothed to a rebellious Saxon, and is also the daughter of a man he slew on the battlefield.
Isabel resists Reegan, her sworn enemy, and fights for the legitimate right to her home, for her rebellious people, and for her own self-preservation, even as she melts under his caresses.
Reegan is willing to play the honorable knight to win the fair Isabel’s reluctant hand, and the land that comes with her. But will the darker forces that conspire against them win the day? Will her honor keep them both from what they both so desperately desire? And once united, will Reegan’s terrible secret tear them apart?
Here’s the payoff for your help: if you come up with a title my editor and I love, and it ends up on the cover, you will receive an acknowledgement in the book, an autographed copy of the book, and a $50 Visa gift certificate.
Now, the way I would like to do this is have Title Tuesday every Tuesday for the next month until we come up with something. Beginning today, even though it’s Wednesday, in the comment section, throw titles at me. Next Tuesday I’ll post this same blog until I get ready to leave for National or until a title sticks, whichever comes first. I’ll pass all suggestions along to my editor, and announce the winner as soon as we have one. I’ll also post the front runner titles from the week before.
So, let the titles fly!
And thank you all in advance.
