Happy Belated Valentine’s Day!

February 14, 2008 | Karin's Blog | 6 comments

I just got back from a nice luncheon with the hubster, my in-laws, and aunt and uncle. It was really nice and relaxing.

That’s going to be the long and short of V-Day for us here at the Tabke house. I have a class tonight, and writing I need to jump on.

I wanted to share a CD that I recently discovered. It’s the soundtrack from the movie Love in the Time of Cholera. Vera sexy. Shakira has a few tracks and the music is so beautiful, rich, and sensual, I can’t stop listening to it. I love iTunes. Great music is just a click away! I also downloaded some John Mayer, Alicia Keys, and John Legend. Great stuff!

So what did you do today to celebrate love with your significant other, and what new musical finds have you come across lately?

ciao

I’m on an oldies kick with iTunes — Van Morrison, Kansas, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Fleetwood Mac…

We’re bundled in here. It’s rainy and cold. Makes me want a nap. 🙂

Oh, Stevie Ray Vaughn! Must go download now!!
My oldest daughter is down in Venice Beach right now. She called to tell us how crappy the weather is. It’s sunny and breezy here.

Have your hubster light a nice fire for you. I hope you rewarded him today for all of his hard work over the weekend. 😉

Happy Heart Day, Karin! Hubby and I shared Hallmark cards, and spent the evening at home. We’re going out to eat in a few days. Also, passed out Valentine goodies to the little ones this afternoon. Fun day! And I love my Ipod too, but haven’t added any new songs for awhile…must do soon!

Yes, glad you had a good day 🙂 . I got 24 red roses, and we had a quiet dinner at home.

Because of licensing issues, South Africans aren’t allowed to buy single tracks off iTunes. All to do with corporate profiteering IMO and it sucks. We have to buy the whole albums from music stores and load those onto our iPods. Did I mention this sucks?

I have read Love in the Time of Cholera, but haven’t seen the movie. Didn’t even know they’d made one. I’ll check it out.

All I expected yesterday was a card. I bought my own chocolates, and I made a nice dinner for all of us – except for the thick, gooey brownies, which my daughter made. My husband came home empty handed with a smirk on his face, and announced he had to go back out in a while. Something he was working on wasn’t finished yet. About an hour later, he got a call on his cell phone and zipped back out. When he returned, he had a beautiful bouquet of roses for me. =oD

A new artist I found that I really like is Natasha Bedingford. Her song Unwritten is very uplifting to me. “Today is where your book begins. The rest is still unwritten.” Love John Mayer, btw. Oh, and that chick Fergie is pretty good, too. Ah, the joys of having a teen in the house – without her, I wouldn’t know who any of these people are.

LaDonna, a quiet evening at home seems to be the order for this V-Day. I ended up with a house full when I came home from my class last night.

That does suck! Michelle. What a bummer. The artists still get compensated, so what is the big deal?

BE I love roses. My future son in law almost made the mistake of his life not taking my daughter flowers to her work last night. He asked me if he *really* had to give my daughter flowers. I looked right at him and said, “Young man, your life will be hell if you don’t. Now get your ass don to the Safeway and buy the biggest prettiest bouquet of roes they have left and take them to her at work, and make a big deal out of it.”
He came back a half hour later looking very relieved. He said, “Thanks for the save, Mrs. Tabke.”

I have some Fergie, Glamorous and Big Girls Don’t Cry. I love that song. I like too. I need to dig around for some more of her songs.
