Was Adam Really In Danger?

April 30, 2009 | Karin's Blog | 9 comments

Or was it AI trying to crank up tension?  Remember a couple of years ago when Chris Daughtry was voted off?  Could happen folks.  Maybe everyone assumed everyone else would be voting for Adam.  The good thing is, no matter how good you are or how much the judges drool all over you, you need to remain humble in this biz.  I’m not sayin’ Adam hasn’t been humble, he has, but you just know inside he’s screaming, “I’m da man!”  And he is.  If he doesn’t win, something is terribly wrong with the voting system.  And if that turns out to be the case, I’m ok with it.  I’ll still watch Idol.  I watch it for more reasons than cheering on my fave.  The lessons it teaches, though they are the same every year, bear repeating, over and over and over again.  The judges, Simon specifically knows their stuff, and as we all know Simon doesn’t mince words, and if we are smart enough, we listen, and apply his advice to what we are doing in our writing life.  Argue with the guru?  Crash and burn.  Ya’d think after 7 seasons those Idols would get it.  Lil Rounds, if you get another shot, listen, and don’t argue.

I’d ramble on some more but I need to wrap up this short story I’m writing.  I have about 3 K words more or less to write.  I’m excited about this little tale.

Ciao for now, chicas!

Karin, I’m glad you’re excited about your story! I was surprised that Adam was in the bottom two, but it wasn’t his best. On Monday, I put up a video on my blog of Michael Buble singing “Feeling Good.” Compared to his version, Adam’s was over the top and just not as good.

I think Adam will win, but Danny might have a shot, too.

  2. Amanda

I think Kris might be the surprise dark horse and unseat them all.

I was not surprised when Adam made the bottom two, I was surprised Kris did. Why when it is so obvious that Adam is amazing? Because his just as Broadway as Randy said (My jaw dropped when he said it, because I’d just written “Too Broadway” in my notes.)

This season is full of talent, being in the bottom two or three is good for a reality check, if you can cut the mustard you’re gone to stop at that reality check and learn. To me this season’s biggest let down was Lil Rounds. She failed to listen, believing she knew best, failed to check her ego at the door. As you said, if she gets another shot, I hope she listens and learns, adapts and grows.

This season is hard because they are all so darn good. I think Danny and Kris are the most commercial, Adam the most talented, and they all have their own genre nitch to fit into, none of them are cut of the same cloth.

the short story is off to my editor! it came out at just over 13K words! i hope she likes!

  5. LaDonna

Congrats on the short story, Karin!

And, I was surprised Adam was in bottom three too. Maybe the viewers felt he needed to be…just once so as to not appear a shoo-in. I think he’ll be one of the last two standing. Kris is the dark horse, and that guy really has been consistent. Like Adam, he knows who he is. I’d love to see those two battle it out in the end.

I’m with LaDonna….Kris = dark horse AND consistently good if not better and better every week. He’s like David Cook but more subtle 😉

I was stunned when Adam was put in the bottom three. Stunned, I say! I think you’re right, Karin, fans were voting for their second place, assuming Adam was a lock. I thought about voting for Allison just to keep her in play. Maybe millions of others had that same thought. Next week I vote for my boy Adam. I’m taking no chances.

Wish Danny would lose the glasses. Glasses may be cool right now, but they make him look more the academic and less the entertainer.

I love Adam and know he’ll have a great career. I’m hoping he wins though. The thing is people think he’s not in danger so now they start voting for those they’d like to see stay on the show a few more weeks, forgetting he still needs votes. 🙂

(blueeyes, just so you know who this is)

    Kris has really suprised me.

Carol I’m with you on Danny losing the glasses.

I think, even if she nails it, Allison will go this week. She’s spent too much time in the bottom three.

Vicki (blueeyes I know who you are! :)), I guess I will have to pick up the phone and vote this week. I hope Adam keeps wowing us. Danny and Kris too. I think I can live w/o Allison.
